Modern Combat Versus has been undergoing constant tweaks and improvements during its soft-launch. This is more apparent than ever in update 0.14.3 which delivers new control options, changes to the respawn system, plus a stack of balance and optimization tweaks.

Update: MCVS is out now Worldwide. Download Modern Combat Versus on iOS, Android, or Windows.

A new level of control

Certainly the first thing MCVS players will notice in update 0.14.3 is how much thought the team have been putting into how the game plays and controls. With this in mind, there are now a whole host of additional control options to allow for greater flexibility.

It’s worth noting that the default controls in MCVS are great. Utilizing an auto-shoot system, you fire whenever your cross-hairs target an opponent. This is ideal for less experienced players, who don't have to worry about juggling too many moving parts while learning.

However, the MCVS team were made aware by the community that higher level players demand more flexibility and control in how they command their Agents. To enable this, the team has added an optional “shoot button” in response to players' comments. As the name suggests, toggling on this virtual button means that your Agent only shoots when you want them to.

Of course, utilizing this option demands more skill - but holds benefits for those who master it. For example, you can provide cover fire without being locked onto an enemy or use BLAZE's flamethrower to block a path.

The “shoot button” is joined by other more subtle customization options. Precision aiming, an aim assist toggle, and sensitivity options, all provide players the chance to control this multiplayer FPS exactly how they want.

And this is only phase one of improvements to the controls options, as the team will continue to refine them throughout soft-launch. This is to ensure that when Modern Combat Versus releases Worldwide the game is perfectly balanced for every player.

Refinements on the field

One of MCVS team’s main goals is to ensure the game is fair and fast paced. This has led to constant refinements around both characters and the combat system - a trend that can again be seen in this update.

A great example of these changes is in the respawn system, which sees two seconds added to the respawn timer. This is for players who need a little extra time to switch characters between spawns. Don't worry though, if you are ready to get back into the action you can skip the timer by hitting "play". Now you can be sure that both teams are always fighting at full power.

In combat there have also been changes made. Bots have been optimized and their AI behaviors improved. Also, when fighting other players an indicator has been added to tell you if your enemy is more than two levels higher than your Agent. This should help you know what you are up against. Know when to fight. Know when to run!

Improved Agents

Updates always see Agents being balanced during the soft-launch, as players discover new ways for them to interact. To learn the full depth of these changes you can check out the patch notes over on the official MCVS forum.

kitty-single-pose-templateFor a quick taste of these changes, here is a peak at MI-NU, everyone’s favorite Kawaii Agent. This cat-eared fighter now regenerates health while her Speed Link is active - even when taking damage! The reason for this is to make her just a little more survivable when she is in a pinch. It won’t totally tip the balance, as it is an ability that will only really help moving away from combat, but it should stop your opponents getting an easy kill as you escape.

This update also sees SW1FT, R0NEN, GH0ST, and TOWER receiving balance changes.
