See it on the big screen
Now playable on the big screen Gods of Rome is better than ever. The character models look amazing when viewed on a larger scale. You just have to look at heroes to see the difference size can make.
Take Anubis, the dog-faced deity who protects the dead in Egyptian mythology. His tar-black fur looks incredible as he savagely attacks his foes. But it is after a win that the detail can really be appreciated, especially on TVs where every single hair can been seen rippling with victory.
Bigger is better
Gods and heroes are not the only things that are better big – so are their powers. Unleashing your fighter’s Ultra Attacks is more ultra than ever. On Apple TV, watching as the arrows rain down from Julius’s Ultra it almost feels possible to count each individual shaft as it hits your opponent’s prone form.
The sprawling vistas that make up each arena are equally impressive when viewed on TV. True, previously it was all there in the same detail, but having it at a larger scale lets you really appreciate elements like the Coliseum mid-construction, and seas churning behind the ship you are battling on.
Revamped controls
Shifting the action to the large screen doesn’t just mean making everything bigger. The Gods of Rome team has also gone about retooling the whole experience to work on a controller. Taps and swipes – which worked perfectly when playing on touchscreen – have been seamlessly replaced with button and d-pad controls to let you create stunning combos.
Menus have also been optimized to work better with a controller. Despite being quite spaced out, on touch, the old menus used to be easy to navigate. However, these same layouts were clunky with a controller, so the team went about rebuilding and streamlining the process so nothing is ever more than a few button taps away.
You can try out Gods of Rome for free on Apple TV today. Or, if you prefer, you can also grab it on iOS, Android, and Windows devices. Plus keep up with all the news on Gameloft’s free-to-play brawler on the game's official page, Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram.
