Gameloft Announces Modern Combat 5: Blackout to Release Day-One on Windows and Windows Phone
Upcoming mobile titles scheduled to launch on Windows Phone 8
and Windows 8 immediately after publication
San Francisco, July 21, 2014 – Today Gameloft, a leading global publisher of digital and social games, announced it will team with Microsoft as one of its official launch-day partners for the release of the highly anticipated Modern Combat 5: Blackout on July 24, 2014. In addition, all Gameloft HD titles in the second half of 2014 are scheduled to release immediately on Windows Store and Windows Phone Store.
Gameloft has seen continued success releasing mobile games with Microsoft since the launch of Windows Phone 7 in October 2010. Subsequently, Gameloft has become a top publisher for the platform, offering a larger, more diverse catalog of mobile game titles.
“Working with Microsoft has been beneficial in bringing our games to more and more players worldwide,” said Baudouin Corman, VP of Publishing for the Americas, Gameloft. “Windows users will be happy to know that in 2014, Gameloft will bring all upcoming HD titles to Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 platforms immediately after they launch.”
“Windows is supported by a rich app ecosystem that offers a variety of quality games that take advantage of the platforms’ unique features and design," said Todd Brix, general manager, Windows Apps and Store, Microsoft Corp. "Gameloft is a leader in the gaming industry and we’re thrilled with the company’s commitment to the platform, enabling Windows and Windows Phone users to enjoy the publisher’s top games immediately upon release.”
Gameloft offers more games in the top free and best rated categories on Windows Store and Windows Phone Store, with Asphalt 8: Airborne and Despicable Me: Minion Rush both reaching five-star ratings from tens of thousands of reviewers. In addition, Asphalt 8: Airborne was the recipient of Pocket Gamer’s “Windows Phone Game of the Year” in 2014.
Gameloft launched 16 games for Windows Phone 8 last year, each rating 4 stars or higher on Windows Phone Store, and is committed to supporting the platform with even more games in 2014.
