Based in our Barcelona Studio, join the talented team in Montréal and embark on a unique gaming adventure! We are looking for a passionate Lead 3D Character Artist to bring their skills to our Dungeons & Dragons® PC/Console video game project. This innovative project blends Action-RPG/Survival mechanics with the unique elements of life simulation games to redefine the genre and capture the imagination of gamers around the world.
As a Lead 3D Character Artist you will:
- Provide strong leadership and thoughtful direction to a team of 3D Character Artists.
- Create (Sculpt, Model, UV, texture, and create materials) high-quality characters and creatures.
- Deliver excellent translations of characters while considering game design constraints and respecting a strong artistic direction.
- Work closely with the Art Director to ensure the visual target is always exceeded and stylistically consistent.
- Provide creative and technical direction to character artists, and be an active motivator in team discussions, critiques, and reviews.
- Actively participate in technical and aesthetic problem-solving discussions for the entire project.
- Coordinate with tools and technology teams to develop necessary solutions for creating the best characters possible.
- Review assets to make certain that they satisfy their intended design and are ready for rigging and animation.
- Collaborate with other disciplines such as Design, Concept Art, Animation, Tech Art, and VFX to ensure that characters are fully realized.
- Verify the quality of assets in the game, and make improvements where necessary to fit technical constraints, performance targets, and artistic direction.
- Supervise bug distribution and verify bug fixes.
- Create and maintain a transparent and reliable schedule that is well-coordinated with production.
- Ensure the timely completion of assets on style and at the desired quality bar.
- Mentor 3D Character Artists by providing creative and technical training, guidance, and feedback.
- Document and communicate workflow and best practices to support consistency across the Character Art Team.
