The finals of the MCVS HONOR International Series kicks off this Saturday (April 7th) at 4PM UTC (watch the live stream). One of the esports teams competing for the grand prize of €10,000 (and an Honor View10 each) is the Malaysian Bujang Lapok.
Central got a chance to talk to these Malaysian MCVS masters. This gave us a chance to discover how came together, how they train, and what they think their chances are against the other esports teams they are going to compete against at the finals in Paris. We also tried to get some tips on how to improve our Modern Combat Versus techniques!
Your team is called Bujang Lapok, where does that name and your logo come from?
thejack: The name "Bujang Lapok" comes from a famous 1957 Malaysian movie which depicts the lives of three bachelors. [The majority of the team] kinda liked the name, so we used it to represent our team because we have four single guys, lol.
How did you all meet?
MasterRamen: We meet up from esports event happening in Malaysia. We getting closer from the esports scene and now working together in the same company [Selangor Cyber Games], except for mimj.
What was it like proving yourselves the best MCVS players in Malaysia?
thejack: We were kinda hoping that we would win since we have two master league players in our team! After we won some of the tough battles we were shouting in disbelief that we are going to represent our country at an international event.
mimj: [It has allowed us to] promote this game more, [and contact] local streamers to stream this game so that our country knows what MCVS looks like.
Any tips for new comers to MCVS looking to compete at your level?
mamba: Just keep play until you find your skills and favorite agents.

So, you are off to the finals in Paris – what are your chances of winning?
mimj: I think around 50% because we actually don't have a lot of free time to train together.
mamba: [We’ve] never meet other participants before, but I believe in our team - we can make it into top three!

MasterRamen: Thank you for organizing this event and bring us to this level. [I hope we have] more like this happen in the future. To everyone, best of luck and may the best team win!
